Mary and I enjoyed the Sunday morning weather today and spent some time fooling around with the cameras...

Patrick, I really love the photos of your dogs. Maybe it's because I love my own dogs so much, but your dog photos are really good. Of course, the photos of you and Mary are nice, too. : )

fun pics!

Yep, got a 40D a few months ago. I use my 400D as a backup now. The truth is, I think the 400D takes as high quality pics as the 40D.

It's all about lenses! That's the next big investment. I have a couple of super lenses, but I need MORE MORE always MORE!!

i found that my 20D did WAAAY better than my rebel when it came to low light. that's one of the reasons i wanted to upgrade. the exposure always seemed to look better, and it was less grainy. not sure about your 400D, though. mine was the original rebel... it left a lot to be desired! i am positively dying for a full frame camera, b/c i want the actual range of my lenses, for pete's sake. So, the 5D or maybe the newer version that is rumored to come out late this year. If it has full weather sealing, that'd be ideal for me in the pacific northwest! i definitely want some L lenses. the 24-70mm is at the top of my list. i'm so bored with my stuff. but i guess i kind of need some money to upgrade. that'd be helpful. lol.
i'm doing a wedding in CO this summer and will be renting the 5D and L lenses to use for it. i feel a huge case of equipment envy coming on myself. too bad the money i get from it will go toward a vacation to SD and disneyland (the kids' first time). no toys for me yet!

Erin, the 400D is a superb camera. I really like it. I like the 40D too, especially since ISO goes to 3200. I am shooting my first wedding this weekend at a Vineyard in Charlottesville, VA! I'm excited about that. Yeah, I'd love the 5D, or better yet one of the Mark III series! I can't wait to see some of your wedding work!

lol. i'm trying to convince adam to buy me the new 1Ds Mark 111. I don't think he's ready to plunk down $8k for me quite yet! i have a photographer friend online who bought it when they came out. it is beyond amazing. *sigh*.
have fun at your wedding!
